Education & Training
Dr. Willson’s medical education reflects a broad and rigorous foundation in both science and surgery. He earned his bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry and Finance from the University of Illinois before completing a master’s degree in Medical Science at Loyola University Chicago. He went on to receive his medical degree from Rush University in Chicago.
Following medical school, Dr. Willson completed a general surgery residency at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital, where he gained extensive experience managing complex surgical cases. He then pursued specialty training in plastic surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, followed by advanced fellowship training in craniofacial surgery at UCLA. This progression through training informed Dr. Willson’s work in both reconstructive and aesthetic procedures.
Career Highlights
Dr. Willson has held a number of academic and clinical leadership roles throughout his career. He previously served as Director of the Cleft & Craniofacial Program at University of Vermont Children’s Hospital, overseeing care for patients with complex congenital and reconstructive needs. He has also held faculty appointments in both surgery and pediatrics. Currently, Dr. Willson is an Associate Program Director and Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the local university.

Dr. Willson has contributed to peer-reviewed medical literature and presented research at various national and international conferences. His scholarly work spans a range of surgical topics, from vascular and gastrointestinal conditions to trauma-related cartilage injury and breast health. Through ongoing research and presentation, he remains engaged with evidence-based medicine and evolving surgical techniques.
